About UsMethodism first began in the village of Windy Nook in the early years of the 19th century when the Wesleyan Methodists began holding cottage meetings in members' homes. On the 28th March 1833, they opened a chapel at the Stead, an area located just behind the present suite of buildings.
The Primitive Methodists followed and began holding Camp Meetings in the 1820s and opened their chapel on 2nd April 1864 at Albion Street closely followed by the Methodist New Connexion who opened their chapel (pictured above) on 13th June 1865 at Stone Street. By the 1960s only the Stone Street chapel remained and this was added to in the 1970s to form the suite of buildings now in use. |
Windy Nook Methodist Church is a small church, full of life, with much to offer the people of Windy Nook and the surrounding area.
We are proud of our history, but we are a modern church well aware of the ways in which life is changing and with an eye to the future.
Here you will meet people of all ages – a genuine community. Our worship on Sunday mornings is innovative, encouraging everyone to be involved. Our evening worship is more traditional.
But most importantly, having found our website, don’t stop there, come along and join with us for worship at any time. You will be very welcome.
